- ―Alien Hominid, Pico's Cousin 2
Alien Hominid is the main character of the titular video game co-created by Tom Fulp and DanPaladin of The Behemoth, originally developed as a Flash game and released on Newgrounds in 2002. Since then, the game has been enhanced and re-released in several expanded versions made for PCs and home consoles.
He is a little yellow alien who crash-lands on Earth after his spaceship was shot down, and is forced to fight off various government agents hailing from the FBI, KGB, and Area 51, in order to retrieve his ship and return to his home planet. Through crossovers, he makes appearances in Pico's Cousin 2 & Newgrounds Rumble.
General information
Physical appearance
Alien Hominid is a small bipedal alien with light yellow skin, beady black eyes, and thin antennae with miniscule spheres atop his disproportionately large head. He has four fingers on each hand, three toes on each foot, a prominent under bite, and wields a lime green blaster pistol.
Personality
The actual personality of Alien Hominid is uncertain, but judging by his actions made in the game, he is a nomadic extraterrestrial being who explores the very depths of outer space and appears to be neutral. Once he crash-lands on Earth and his spaceship is confiscated (in the console version), he is more concerned with getting back to his home planet. When FBI agents, KGB generals, and soldiers from Area 51 try getting in his way, he only kills them under the act of self-defense. Aside from this, he doesn't show any form of aggression or distaste towards humans or other peaceful lifeforms, and is friendly to those who assist him. Alien Hominid is not one to concern himself in conflict with other species, unless he is attacked first, that is. His only desire is to retrieve its ship and go home.
Abilities
Alien Hominid possesses a particular set of skills, such as his mastery of energy-based weapons and close combat. His main arsenal consists of a high-tech ray gun, a Rambo-esque hunting knife and a limited number of grenades as secondary weapons. Additionally, his jaw is strong enough to bite through pure flesh and bone. However, despite his variety of abilities, he is rather fragile as he can be overwhelmed from just a single hit. Because of this, he utilizes advanced maneuvers include rolling under shots, jumping on enemies' heads and biting them off, temporarily scaring them, and digging underground to drag enemies down with them. In addition, he collects numerous power-ups which give him extra grenades, a shield, and seven types of ammo for his blaster. Aside from combat, he also shows skill in driving vehicles, piloting his UFO, and even riding atop of a Yeti.
History
Pico's Cousin 2
In Pico's Cousin 2, a version of Alien Hominid makes a cameo appearance as a main boss, where he faces off against Otis and dies in the ensuing battle. It is later established in-game that the Hominid race are simple "pets" of the Penilians. However, the canonicity of this is debatable.
Newgrounds Rumble
In Newgrounds Rumble, Alien Hominid appears as a playable character. In his story mode, he is unable to properly communicate with the natives of Newgrounds, resulting in him being instantly viewed as a threat. At the end of his story mode, he uses his resources as the new ruler of Newgrounds to reconstruct his UFO and leave planet Earth, after being confused by the "hostile and belligerent" nature of its inhabitants.

Trivia
- The original Alien Hominid game released on Newgrounds was referred to as a "prototype" by The Behemoth, indicating the later retail releases that would come afterward.[1] Once the game amassed over 21 million views and received critical praise by users, Dan Paladin and Tom Fulp worked to make a console version of the game after encouragement by co-worker John Baez.
- Being their first console game, Alien Hominid received universal acclaim for its releases on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube; the sole exception being the Game Boy Advance. It would later be remastered and re-released for modern consoles, before The Behemoth would announce "an all-new re-imagination" of the original game in 2020. On November 1, 2023, their fifth game, Alien Hominid Invasion, would be released as a co-op run and gun video game featuring new gameplay and mechanics.
- As depicted in some fan-made flashes on Newgrounds, Alien Hominid is often seen as a rival to Pico, often due to him overshadowing the latter in Tom Fulp's eyes. This is reflected on how fans believed Fulp had abandoned Pico 2 in favor of developing Alien Hominid.
- In Alien Hominid, the titular character pilots their spacecraft and uses the tractor beam to drop humans into a woodchipper, which is a direct reference to UFA.
- In Newgrounds Rumble, Alien Hominid has a wide range of attacks and a good balance of power and speed. However, some attacks are weak and slow and has slightly low health.
