Tracie

Tracie is an unused original character created by Luis. She was originally intended to be a playable character in Newgrounds Rumble, before she was ultimately scrapped. Not much more would be known about her aside from her mere appearance until the release of Tracie's Pursuit years later, where she would finally make her debut.

General information

Physical appearance

Tracie is a young girl with light skin, white eyes and short brown hair. She wears a white long-sleeved sweatshirt with a pink stripe across the midriff, matching white shoes and pink socks, and a pink hairband.

In Newgrounds Rumble, she wears a pink short-sleeved shirt with a heart on the chest, and her skirt is white.

Personality

What stands out the most from Tracie is her insane and unhealthy obsession with Pico, as evidenced from her hanging photographs of him on her bedroom wall, to looting his personal belongings at school, to even blackmailing others into telling her personal information about him. Regardless of whether she is in a life-or-death situation, if Pico is there, she will flat out cry and beg for him to be her boyfriend. Though she has tried to control her obsession in Tracie's Pursuit, by at least trying to talk to Pico normally in order to ask him out on a date.

Abilities

Not much is known about her abilities, though taking into account her concept art, her main weapon appears to be a sharp pair of scissors.

History

Tracie's Pursuit

In Tracie's Pursuit, Tracie wakes up from bed and proceeds to carry out her mission: win over her school crush in Pico, performing the right sequence of actions to woo him.

She goes to school and tries getting into his locker, only to find she can't due to not knowing the combination to unlock it. She heads inside one of the classrooms to meet Pico, who's sitting at one of the desks. To distract him, she lies by telling him that Darnell is having a fight in the lunchroom, causing Pico to leave in excitement. As he exits, Tracie takes advantage of this moment by swiping his notebook, which has his locker code written inside. She opens Pico's locker, stealing his library card and his CD of "The Adventures of Luis Lane", before heading to the library. Taking advantage of the blind old man running the desk, she gets Pico's favorite book, which was a Python coding textbook. She then has the option to murder a blonde girl who was dedicating a love letter to Pico with the scissors she grabbed from Pico's classroom. She also finds the backdoor key hidden inside one of the library books.

On the way outside the school, Tracie meets Darnell, whom she convinces to tell her what Pico's favorite sport is in exchange for answering questions concerning physics and chemistry. By answering all the questions correctly, Darnell confesses that Pico doesn't even like sports, although sometimes he plays kickball.

Once Tracie's affection bar is filled, she arrives home, turns on her computer and chats with Pico on HeyBuddy Messanger (a parody of Facebook Messenger). She can ask if he likes coding, inviting him to teach her how to code, or she can ask if he likes techno music, suggesting that they listen to Luis Lane sometime. In either case, Pico accepts, even knowing that she was the one who looted his things at school. He still forgives her and promises to teach her how to write some code or to listen to Luis Lane with her, ending the game on a somewhat happy note.

Alternatively, Pico ends up blocking Tracie when she asks him if he likes kickball, or also directly telling him that she loves him in a terrifying way.

Citizen Pico: Pico's School IV

In Citizen Pico: Pico's School IV, Tracie makes a brief cameo appearance. She appears hidden among a bunch of skulls at the school, though it isn't known exactly what she was doing there. When she sees Pico, she insists that he be her boyfriend, in exchange for giving her the keys to the janitor closet. When Pico accepts her proposal, she gets overly excited and gives him the key. Although alternatively, Pico can kill her and take the key anyway.

Trivia

  • Tracie was a character originally created by Luis for a Flash animation where she was obsessed with Pico, and an unnamed fighting game with other characters, but both never went anywhere and ended up being cancelled.[1] She was also planned to appear in Newgrounds Rumble as a secret character, but was scrapped due to her sprites not fitting the game's art style.
    • She would finally make a debut in 2024 with Tracie's Pursuit, a fangame made by StormyDew for that year's Flash Forward Jam, technically making it her first appearance in a Pico or Pico-related game.
  • According to Luis, Tracie is directly inspired by Nene and Elmyra Duff from Tiny Toon Adventures.[2][3]
  • In the Friday Night Funkin' modding community, there is a character similar to Tracie called Sun, who also shares a major obsession with Pico. However, unlike Tracie, she doesn't take it well when he rejects her advances.
  • Her sprite sheet from Newgrounds Rumble is now considered lost media.
