Luis Frederico Castañon (born January 19, 1980), also known by the mononym Luis, is a professional artist, game developer, and Flash animator who has acted as a frequent contributor to Newgrounds. Since 2000, he has made over 210 submissions to the site, including art, movies, games, music, and collaborations with other animators. He is also known for his contributions to the Pico franchise, namely establishing Nene's preference for knives, and creating the original character Convict.

Influence on Pico

Luis has often been cited as introducing several new elements to the Pico franchise that would later make their way into the franchise itself. Most notable were two of his most renowned Flash animations, The Perfect Murder and Pico vs. Convict. Both Flashes reinterpreted the character Nene as a highly capable fighter whose main weapon of choice were a pair of kitchen knives, while giving her a more bloodthirsty and uncaring personality. Prior to this, she had canonically displayed no skill in combat. However, because of the shorts' massive popularity, these character traits were adapted into Nene's character, along with her promiscuity and suicidal tendencies.

Aside from this, Convict, who was introduced as the titular antagonist in Pico vs. Convict, made his debut as a very intimidating villain with inhuman shapeshifting powers. He has now gained a cult following, and is regarded as one of, if not, the most popular fan made characters in the Pico series, often compared to the likes of Cassandra.
