A stop at the burger joint takes a turn for the worst - Newgrounds Description

A Bad Taste of Pico is a Flash game developed by Joelasticot, Hopeku, and UltraPitchFork and released on April 30, 2009. Uploaded on Pico Day with Joelasticot acting as programmer, UltraPitchFork as artist and Hopeku as composer, the game stars Pico, who cracks down on a fast food restaurant run by anthropomorphic chickens selling human flesh as meat product.

Plot

The game begins two years after the "school incident", with Pico taking a walk around the block until he notices his stomach begin rumbling. Now afflicted by hunger, he, by pure convenience, finds a fast food joint by the name of Roastie's Fast Food. After entering the restaurant, Pico orders a large cheeseburger at the countertop, where the cashier looks rather "feathery". Now suspicious, he cautiously takes a bite out of the burger before quickly realizing the sandwich is made of human meat. Pico immediately pulls out his gun and decides to take matters into his own hands.

Gameplay

In this game, the player controls Pico, who has to fend off enemies. The player has 3 lives, which go down every time they get hit or bitten by an enemy, but once all those lives have been lost, they will return to the stage you've just entered and the enemies respawn.

Instructions

The A and D keys are used to move respectively left and right, with the W key used to jump. You can press the W key to jump in the air, over gaps or objects. Use the mouse to aim around the screen, and click to shoot.

    • Once it falls, 2 of the crushers will block the other side of the room and the other one will try to crush you.
    • Make it crush the eye.
    • Enter the other room and simply shoot the boss.

Reception

A Bad Taste of Pico received positive reception upon its release on Pico Day. Critics and users praised the detailed artwork and enjoyed the platforming gameplay, though there would be some criticism towards certain bugs within the game's coding. Special attention was given to the soundtrack composed by Hopeku with its most famous track, "Blue brass of the beast", being reused in Madness Accelerant. On Newgrounds, it currently has over 630,000 views and an average score of 4.28/5.00, and it was also featured on the front page.

Additionally, it is featured on the Pico Day 2009 collection.
