Hansel
The content below is not official to the Pico franchise. |
Hansel is the main antagonist and final boss of Pico Blast. He is an enormous, cybernetically-enhanced cephalopod alien of unknown origin who hijacks the local trainyard.
General information
Physical appearance
Upon his entrance, Hansel appears to be a giant metal automaton with glowing red pupils, outfitted with stitches and two gigantic ball-peen hammers that act as his fists, his name spray-painted on the steel frame. After this metallic shell is destroyed, his true form is revealed to be an octopus-like extraterrestrial with pale skin, red eyes, long tentacles, and large teeth, with pieces of metal and wires surrounding his head.
Powers and abilities
Hansel possesses advanced technology that proves to be incredibly lethal, such as being able to fire various lasers from his metal fists and operate a spacecraft that fires twin laser beams and auto-targeting laser orbs. He also has the latent psychic ability to conjure a wave of laser orbs, homing missiles and a double-bladed energy sword resembling a lightsaber. Even when he is reduced to a brain, he retains enough conscious thought to spawn various laser orbs.
Personality
Due to his limited screentime, Hansel doesn't seem to have a personality, other than him being a malevolent alien who serves as an antagonist to Pico (much like the Penilians). The reason why he specifically chose to take over the local trainyard remains unanswered. After his shell is destroyed, and he attempts to kill Pico with a nuclear bomb, he does seem to have some form of composure as he falls into the Earth's core, clasping his arms in what looks to be indifference.
History
Pico Blast
In Pico Blast, Pico is called to deal with Hansel after he attacks a trainyard. During his first phase, the alien simply attempts to crush Pico with his mechanical fists, which get shot at and destroyed. In his second phase, he leaves the artificial body and enters his UFO, with its weak spot being the green circle under. In his third phase, he launches a bomb in the train and falls into the ground with Pico, falling through the large hole in the ground and launching smaller bombs to attack. Finally, in his fourth phase, only Hansel's brain is left, which Pico completely destroys before he is rescued by helicopter.

Trivia
- Hansel's base design bears a resemblance to The Maxx from The Maxx comic book series.
- As he is free-falling into the Earth's core, Hansel can be seen crossing his arms, or rather two of his tentacles.
- The energy sword he summons in the third phase seems to be based on Darth Maul's lightsaber from the Star Wars multimedia franchise.
