Fiberglass Monkey is an animated music video co-created by TmsT & Trapezoid (Neil Cicierega) and submitted to Newgrounds on April 30, 2006. Created for Pico Day, this Flash movie features Pico as the main character, having hallucinations in his bedroom of the titular monkey and being absolutely terrified of it before eventually retaliating against the simian.
Plot
The music video starts with Pico in his bed, imagining of a fiberglass monkey in his sleep, which he is terrified of. He has a nightmare about "the monkey [he] despised", and in the morning, he wakes up in a cold sweat. The next night, he goes to bed with a baseball bat to finally kill the ghastly monkey. When the monkey finally rears its head, Pico murders it with the bat, even knocking out its glowing red eyes. Pico proceeds to go back to sleep, dreaming about killing more fiberglass monkeys. The next morning, it is revealed that the "fiberglass monkey" he killed was actually Curious George, and the Man with The Yellow Hat finds his body, bawling in tears.
Reception
Fiberglass Monkey received positive reception upon its release to Newgrounds. Many critics and users enjoyed the comedic visuals and the music composed by Neil Cicierega of Lemon Demon. The music video currently has over 300,000 views and holds an average score of 4.72/5.00. In addition to that, it was featured on the frontpage the same day as its release. Additionally, it is also featured in the Lemon Demon & Pico Day 2006 collections.
